SPEAKING OUT

Apraxia Family Support Group

 
OAFCCD is enhancing support for families of children with Apraxia.  OAFCCD volunteer Sonya Marshall is taking the lead in setting up a support group for parents and other family members to get together for presentations and networking.
 
The first meeting will be held on Thursday April 28th at the London Speech and Language Centre starting at 7:00pm.  The first meeting speaker is Kerry Erle, M.Cl.Sc., Executive Director of the London Speech and Language Centre, who will be talking about “Partnering with your Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to maximize treatment progress”
 
Subsequent meetings will be held on May 26th , with speaker Sharon Pettman and June 23rd  with speaker Alison Morse.

Meetings are at London Speech and Language Centre from 7-9 pm


October 27th - Guest Speaker - Dr. Jeff Harris, a neurologically based Chiropractor from London. He will be talking aout his work with children with disabilities.

November 24th - Guest Speaker - Gavin Michaels from P.E.E.R. Family Counseling. He will be talking about how to address the issues faced by siblings of a child with a disability or disorder.

December's meeting will be a seasonal social get together. Date, time and location to be determined.
